What books do you refuse to read?

Twilight.

I'm with you, Dot. I do not like Twilight. I tried reading Hunger Games and, yeah, no thanks on that one either.

I have both those series on my list to avoid. But the one series I tried reading and never made it through was A Song of Ice and Fire (or is it Fire and Ice?). Heck, I can't even get the name right. I just couldn't stand the way it was written.

I wasn't a huge fan of A Song of Ice and Fire (you had it right the first time ), but I didn't think they were terrible. Honestly, I like the tv series more. But still, I didn't think ASOIAF was nearly as bad as Twilight or Hunger Games.

I'm with Phyrexia on this one. In fact, I really liked A Song of Ice and Fire (and am waiting so patiently for the next book). But Twilight and Hunger Games are definitely OUT!

Another REALLY bad one is Wizard's Daughter by Catherine Coultier. Harlequin crossed with fantasy.

I actually read the Twilight Saga, just to see what was so special. Let me just say that the second book was horrid the others were beyond odd and I now literally hate the word chagrin. And even tho I have no desire to read The Hunger Games I will probably end up reading it with my daughter.

The book I refuse to read would be Shades of Grey.

Ah yes, Fifty Shades of Grey. A spectacular example of low literiture and B-grade porn. I have not read any of the books in the series and have no desire to. I picked it up out of curiosity and opened it to a random page. FIrst sentence I saw:

"You get laid yet, today?"

Opened it a half dozen more times at random and got more education in anatomy and intercourse than the last ten years of dating. Not my kind of book at all and another on my list to avoid.

From what you've said, Alaryah, I still have no desire to read Twilight.

Yeah Twilight is not one I would read again or recommend! So, yeah you are smart not to go there!

A disturbing trend in literature. Forget the story, just put in a lot of sex and it will sell. No wonder the general intelligence level of people is steadily declining.
